Dryopteris erythrosora (Autumn Fern)
This evergreen fern has striking orange-red new growth that turns copper-pink then a rich green by mid-summer. By fall, red spores form on the undersides of the fronds, adding more visual interest.
It can grow up to 18 to 24 in. high and wide in shade or part-shade. It's tolerant of most soils, but in fast-draining soils it may need more moisture, especially during the establishment period.
It is deer- and rabbit-resistant, and looks super paired with Hellebores, Epimedium, Trillium, and other native shade-loving perennials (some of these are offered in our spring sale).
