Helleborus 'North Star Plum' (North Star Plum Hellebore) (1 quart)

$14.50
Sold Out (Use Waitlist)

‘North Star Plum’ is a special selection featuring double flowers in deep plummy-purple hues, with each petal softly edged in a soft fuchsia, contrasting beautifully with the bright yellow centers. This variety will add winter interest to the shady parts of your landscape from late January through April, and is a terrific companion to shade-loving native perennials and ferns.

The dark-green evergreen foliage will grow about 12 to 18 inches in height by 15 to 18 inches in width, with the flower held aloft just above the tops of the leaves.

This variety does best in part to full shade, and should not be planted too deeply. Top the root zone with compost and/or wood-chip mulch every other year or so to retain moisture and cool the roots in summer. Remove the spent leaves by January to promote plant health and better reveal the winter blooms and fresh, shiny new leaves.

Hellebores are beloved for their winter blooms, evergreen foliage, drought-tolerance, and deer and rabbit resistance.
