"Klamath Ruby" is a year-round groundcover with dainty "shamrock" foliage, and this cultivar improves on our native Oxalis by proving fully evergreen and offering faster and more vigorous growth! The cultivar name "Klamath Ruby" references the bright burgundy red underside of the leaves. Large white flowers with pale-pink veins pop up on top of the foliage from spring to early summer. This fast-colonizing groundcover spreads by rhizome and can cover several feet in a year, as long as it’s sited in part shade to shade in rich, hummus laden, moisture retentive soil.

Despite its fast coverage, it never inhibits other shade-loving perennials from emerging from within its dense coverage. As a base layer in shady sites, pair it with native Wild Ginger, Trilliums, Fairy-bells, Starry-flowered False-Solomon’s Seal, Epimedium, Autumn Ferns, and other shade-loving beauties! Or use it in wilder areas to obstruct weed growth anywhere it’s too dark for other plants to thrive, such as under established conifers. Drought tolerant and deer resistant!
