Salvia sylvestris 'Little Night' (Little Night Salvia) (1 qt)

$9.50
Sold Out (Use Waitlist)

Ornamental salvias are beloved for their extended blooms that support many species of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds all season long, their drought tolerance, and their natural resistance to deer and bunnies.

The ‘Little Night’ cultivar offers a more compact, dwarf version of the popular ‘May Night’ salvia, growing just 10 to 12 inches tall by 12 to 18 inches wide. Yet it retains all the positive attributes of its taller parent: months of vivid, deep-colored purple flower spikes excellent for cutting, and well suited to any full-sun spot: perennial borders, rock gardens, containers, and mixed garden beds.

Salvias are not fussy about their soil, as long as they get many hours of sun in the summer; they thrive in poor soil or rich, as long as it has decent drainage. This is a fuss-free plant once established, and suitable for pairing with any full-sun native or waterwise perennial, including Gaura, Echinacea, and Coreopsis. Some gardeners like to plant it in front of roses to repel rabbits!  [Note: Plants purchased in the fall sale will have been shortened for winter and strong spring emergence.]
