Philadelphus lewisii (Mock Orange)
Mock-orange is one of the northwest's most prized native ornamental shrubs for its large, bright white, lightly fragrant flowers that blossom in early to mid-summer. Its seed capsules add interest to the landscape and provide food for wildlife.
Mock-orange grows up to about 10 ft. in height. In shadier sites, it can be leggy/less bushy, and grow more slowly than those grown in sun.
Adaptable to a range of conditions and may be moderately tolerant of salt spray. It requires well drained soils but can grow acceptably in clay. Great in a hedgerow, and supports many pollinators!
