Tolmiea menziesii (Piggyback Plant / Youth-on-age)

$0.00

Our native Piggyback Plant features mounds of beautifully scalloped, semi-evergreen leaves that make a great ground cover, spreading lightly to create attractive drifts with other shade-loving perennials.

Tiny, frilly, orangish flowers appear on stalks that reach 12-30 in. tall, April-June.

Piggyback Plant's leaves are very evident in the winter, when it's easy to see where it gets its name: small leaves form in the axil of the mature leaves ("piggybacking on"), then drop to the ground to self-propagate.

Plant in part to full shade with other shade-loving perennials and ferns. Drought tolerant once established. A no-fuss plant!
