Miscanthus sinensis 'Little Miss' (Dwarf Red Maidengrass) 1 gal

$12.50
Sold Out (Use Waitlist)

The narrow-bladed Maidengrass cultivars have proven to be drought-tolerant winners, and this relatively recent introduction, 'Little Miss,' has become one of our new favorites! A dwarf clumping grass that reaches only 3 ft. x 3 ft., the foliage emerges bright green in spring and slowly develops carmine and purple hues by summer, with deep tones coloring the leaves by fall. Above the foliage, the classic ''corn-stalk''-like flower clusters appear, inviting beneficial insects and birds to take refuge and forage from fall until you trim back the old growth in Feb/March the following year. On this variety, the flowers are tinged red, followed by buff-colored seed heads that persist and capture the winter light, brightening your winter landscape.

Its compact size makes it perfect for massing or mixing with the similar but just-different-enough 'Little Kitten' Miscanthus, as well as dwarf Pennisetum and Calamagrostis varieties (also offered in some of our online sales). Miscanthus thrives in full sun, is drought-tolerant, and is deer resistant.
