Penstemon pinifolius 'Sunset Glow' 1 qt.

$10.50
Sold Out (Use Waitlist)

A terrific and petite evergreen shrublet, this 'Sunset Glow' cultivar features dense foliage that reaches 12-18 in. high and spreads out 18-24 in. wide.

The blooms are a ''sunset-hued'' warm yellowish-orange color, with the same tubular shape that attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and other pollinators, while bunnies tend to avoid snacking on it.

Shear back blooms, and you'll enjoy flowers from early summer to fall. As with other penstemons, you'll want to place this in full sun and be stingy with watering (should require nothing after it's established). This selection has been bred to tolerate a range of soil types, including clay-ish or silty soils, as well as sharper-draining soils typically preferred by this genus.

This makes a great plant at the edge of a border, pathway, or even as a groundcover around widely-spaced stepping stones in a hot, dry setting. You can pair it with any sun-loving native or water-wise perennial, sedum, or dwarf ornamental grass to nice effect in your sunny landscape!
